Make music with this hands-on introduction to the four instrument families—drums, horns, strings, and voice—in this board book series by a world-renown music educator.
What do a guitar, a harp, and a piano have in common? They are all strings! This first introduction begins with a simple explanation of what defines a string instrument. Young readers are then invited on a global exploration of a variety of different stringed instruments and are encouraged to find strings of their own in the world around them. Includes a bound-in string to strum, and a visual glossary.
Each title in the THIS IS MUSIC series features an interactive novelty musical element that invites the reader to “play” the book!

Strings Children’s Book
I really enjoyed this book! I think it will be a wonderful tool to incorporate music, culture, and facts into a classroom, even if it’s not music specific. As a future teacher I hope to connect to my students through the books in this series. The illustrations are engaging and colorful, the dialogue is simple but fact filled. I also enjoyed how some aspects of those instruments are incorporated at the end of the book. This aspect could engage very early learners. I disliked how basic it was in some parts. I think upper elementary students may have a difficult time taking interest in this type of book because of its simplicity. For the right audience it will be a wonderful learning tool!

Strings!
This book is super cute and child friendly. I will put this in my classroom in the future! I loved how informational it was about the music of strings and had an interactive portion where students or children can actually strum the string. This book can have children thinking about instruments and that there are all sorts of instruments out there for them to try.

Toddler loves this book!
My 2 year old loves music and musical instruments so we got him this book. He loves it, and is getting pretty good at differentiating different string instruments (they used to be all “guitar”)! Today we saw a picture of a sitar on a poster, and he looked at it and said, “sitar”. The text has a good rhythm and it is easy to interact with the pictures. Looking at picking up other books in this series.
