Stable, Cheap Connectivity on the go!
I recently purchased a rental property and have been looking for a cheap way to get connectivity at the property during vacancy periods. The SOLIS is perfect for this. It is cheap and easy to use. I currently have a NEST thermostat, 2 WIFI cameras, a WIFI water sensor hub and a WIFI smoke detector working off of it (for over a month). Whenever I need to spend extra time at the property (managing contractors, or other work) I have also been running my computer off of it. No issues whatsoever. I have not had a dropped/unstable connection even once. What more can I say? I fully recommend this.

My #1 Travel Necessity
I love this portable wifi. I don’t understand why it has mediocre reviews. I waited almost a year to make this review in case I ran into issues that popped up later. I have had none. This is my #1 travel necessity. I don’t like to pay for phone data while abroad, and I also work remotely, so I needed a portable wifi. It has saved me + my travel companions + others on 4 international trips this year (Spain, Iceland, Canada, Colombia). 1) I used it while solo hiking at 10,000 elevation before a storm in order for my friends and family to have record of my location in case something went south. 2) I never have to worry about sketchy wifi at airports. Many of them are NOT regulated / provided by the airport and are serious security risks. As someone who works remotely with data, this is NOT acceptable. 3) Even though I was staying at 3 star and 4 star hotels in Spain (4 different ones), their wifi was not adequate to turn on my video during calls. This wifi allowed me to take meetings like a professional. I haven’t even tried on my other trips to use hotel wifi because I don’t trust it will be good enough. 4) Some of my travel companions have T-mobile and couldn’t get ANY data or cell service in Colombia, and my wifi had service everywhere- including remote islands. 5) It lasts over an entire day charged. I am shocked at how long it lasts. I can keep it on and have 4 people using it without needing to charge it until that night. Even using one person’s phone with hotspot wouldn’t last this long. 6) Spectrum is very unreliable and has a lot of outages in Los Angeles. This wifi gives you free data every month, even if you aren’t buying a plan. It comes in handy when me and my roommates are working from home and our wifi goes out. 7) It is super easy to bring to any coffee shop that doesn’t have wifi provided and work wherever.Everyone who I have traveled internationally with this year has decided to buy one too. They loved it, and I couldn’t recommend it enough. My two minor negative remarks about this wifi is that it can take a few minutes to find signal, and every time you connect to it, you have to click “Done” in your wifi settings. So I just turn it on as I am leaving my hotel room, and then by the time I am out of range of hotel wifi, I have this one to connect to.

Great for Stationary Use, Unreliable on the Move
I purchased the SIMO Solis Lite 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot to test it out on a longer train ride within the U.S. and to see if it could serve as a reliable travel companion for future trips, including camping and international travel. After my initial testing, I’d rate it 3 out of 5—it does what I expected, but it has some notable limitations. My biggest issue was inconsistent connectivity while on a moving train. The device struggled to maintain a stable connection, likely due to constantly needing to find and switch between available networks. This made it unreliable for anything requiring a steady internet connection during transit. However, when stationary, the hotspot performed as intended. I consistently saw 25 Mbps download and 25 Mbps upload speeds, which falls within realistic expectations for 4G LTE in real-world conditions. While it’s not incredibly fast, it’s sufficient for essential tasks like navigation, basic web browsing, and occasional work. One of the standout features is the lifetime 1GB/month of free data. That’s a great perk for light use, and the app experience is solid—it clearly shows how much data is left and makes purchasing additional data passes simple.I plan to continue using this for:- Traveling & camping in remote locations- As a backup if my home internet goes out- General light usage (email, maps, messaging, basic browsing)Limitations- Not ideal for heavy bandwidth tasks – Don’t expect ultra-fast speeds or the ability to handle high-definition streaming or large file transfers.- Unstable on moving transport – If you’re looking for a hotspot to use while in motion (train, car, etc.), this may not be the best choice. The SIMO Solis Lite is a decent, budget-friendly hotspot, but its ability to switch networks dynamically isn’t strong enough to handle moving environments. If you plan to use it while stationary, it works well.I have yet to test it in camping situations or while traveling (next trip is in Asia), so I’ll update my review once I get more real-world use out of it in different scenarios.

Funciona bien excepto cuando no encuentra una red cercana. Y las promociones de paquetes de internet normalmente no incluyen a México

I was not looking for the most advanced tech hotspot, but the easiest one to use wherever you go. This device is very easy to set up. You land on foreign soil and you are connected to the local network. No Airport purchase or sim chasing. Does not get easier than that. Worked beautifully in Mexico City. Small enough to carry albeit with a small bulge in you pockets.Came with 1 GB free data. Installed the app to purchase another 1 GB from the pay per GB plan. If you don’t use it, you get to keep it until your next travel. Happy with the purchase. Best to turn it on for a minimum of 5 – 7min before it really gets going. Good purchase.

Works as it should. I have noticed other comments from last year stating it had some issues. Went into settings and noticed that they have firmware updates and it did install and updated my device. A lot of those older issues may have been addressed. As far as I can tell it does the job effectively.
