Works on Most Vehicles: This heavy-duty spring compressor tool set by Orion Motor Tech repairs bent and damaged parts and performs the necessary suspension maintenance on the MacPherson struts and springs found in most small and medium-sized cars
Secure Compression: Acme-threaded rods ensure a firm grip on springs, while built-in detent pins securely lock them in place, providing reliable, non-slip compression for safe and precise work
Wide Compatibility: Working with your manual or power tool’s 1/2-inch square drive or 13/16-inch hex sockets, our Acme rods and end pieces offer a 10.5″ range, wider than the competition to work with more vehicles
Built to Last: Our pair of heavy-duty strut spring compressors boasts high durability and corrosion resistance under even punishing use thanks to their heat-treated steel construction, black oxide finish along the threaded rods, and powder-coated heads
Compact & Portable: This hock spring compressor tool set comes with a blow-molded case, keeping parts organized and easy to carry, store, and access, so you’re always prepared for your next repair job
Customers say
Customers find the spring compressor tool works well, particularly on Cadillac XTS front springs, and appreciate its value for money. The tool is relatively easy to use, with one customer noting it can be cranked by hand. However, the build quality receives mixed feedback, with some saying it’s well-made while others report it breaking on first use. Moreover, customers report issues with fit, particularly with full-size truck/SUV springs, and bending problems, with the threaded shaft bending easily. Additionally, thread safety is a concern as threads strip during use.

Very solid compressor for a good price
Very solid, did the job very well. If you work on your car that has McPherson struts, then you need this spring compressor. Seems very well-made, and comes with its own carrying case.

Solid construction
Nice. Even took pride in the stout case. I was impressed. If I don’t come back to edit. They worked great too.

Cost effective
First look was encouraging. Beefy cast iron hooks and precision looking bolts. I liked that there are safety pins designed to keep the hooks from popping off. Upon first use, it works as designed (subject ‘99 Buick LeSabre). It’s slow and awkward, but not the tools fault. When compressed it appeared that the bolts slightly flexed, yet did not stay bent. One of the safety pins did slightly bend. I would recommend purchase but can’t foresee its suitability in all applications.

CATASTRAUPHIC FAILURE – OMT DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT
I purchased this tool in July 2024. Like many, I did not use the tool until November 2024 when I went to replace the shocks in my 2014 F-150.While under load, the bolt head snapped apart and the spring/tool went flying through the garage. Fortunately, I was working with the strut horizontal to me and was not injured.I reached out to OMT to offer them the opportunity to make this right. They agreed the tool failed, and offered to replace the tool. However, because the tool was not in stock, they offered a 50% refund in lieu of the product replacement. As a matter of principal I pushed back on this – why would I only receive 50% credit when the product clearly boasts a 12-month warranty? They responded and told me that, because only 1 compressor broke, they should only pay 1/2 the replacement cost. They’re sold in pairs!I never right reviews, but as a matter of principal, this was extremely frustrating. The company sold a faulty automotive tool that could have seriously injured me AND ADVERTISED A 12 MONTH WARRANTY, then failed to stand behind that warranty when the tool failed on its first use. If they had made it right, I probably wouldn’t be writing this review. It’s a $30 tool, so they chose to receive this review over $15.I told the company that’s about like buying a new car with a complete powertrain warranty, then the engine fails as soon as you drive it off the lot. The car company then tells you “well, only 1/2 of the engine failed, so we’ll give you 1/2 credit on the replacement”.Buy from a company you can trust and actually stands behind their products.

does the job but locks are weak
I’ve had bad experiences in the past dealing with removing top hats but this made it a breeze and I love the locking slides but one broke on the first strut I did BUT I still managed to use it for the other struts, I just had to angle the lock so it’d still be somewhat secure. all in all this kit is very convenient, wish it came in a portable protective box of some sort.

No need to worry, these are robust and work great. Strong enough to compress springs form an SUV. If it’s something more heavy duty, you may need a larger set, these were compressed to their maximum to allow me to pull my strut apart and put back together.

Good quality. Better than others in the same price range.

They do exactly what they are supposed to do. The ability to lock them in place is definitely a reassuring safety feature.Highly recommended
