Resistance is Futile
I did rehab a couple of years ago for my ankle and one thing I got out of it is how much resistance bands helped. My mobility in my ankles wasn’t up to par, but using resistance in my routine definitely improved how far I could bend.Dr. Knopf put together a book that is easy to navigate. Between the intro and overview of the do and don’ts with technique ( I didn’t know you had to slightly bend up for proper spine alignment when lying on your back), I feel anyone should feel secure in approaching the use of resistance bands. They are great for training or for healing. There a bunch of exercises in the book I didn’t think you could use resistance bands for, but with pictures that clearly illustrate the moves, it’s easy to see how the bands can help in almost every exercise. What’s also great is while reading, since I purchased the kindle edition, there is actually clickable links on the exercises that will take you to the step-by-step guide for the corresponding workout.

Very helpful book
This book has “doable” exercises for average people who are not professional athletes . Some other books assume the reader is in his/her 20’s and in peak condition .There are exercises for those with limited range of motion due to injury or arthritis and some for more agile people . I think this book would also be helpful for Seniors trying to maintain mobility.

Sensible
High quality information – so much common sense. I’m reviewing several books on my shelf that relate to stretching, prevention, anti-aging, and home treatments. During the covid lockdown, I got interested in how my family would proceed if any of us were injured/had sore muscles/needed medical attention for acute pain when medical attention was not available. This book offers sensible programs for prevention, rehab, and stretching. Do-able with minimal equipment (resistance bands, a chair, the floor) Offers advice and guidance for determining what is wrong, what may help, and what may make things worse. The overall approach is one of balance and being patient with oneself.

This book offers some really excellent ways to help your body recover from injury. I fell down the stairs two years ago and still have pain in my hip, back and knee. The only help my dr could offer was prescription painkillers, which mask symptoms rather than tackle the root cause, and I wasn’t keen on a lifelong dependency on maximum strength codeine anyway. I gave this book a try and have been overjoyed with it.Each area of the body is covered, with an overview of common ailments. For each injury type, there are several different exercise options, and you can do them all or choose the ones that suit you best. With my hip injury I can’t lie on my left side, so exercises done lying sidelong are not good for me, but there are several others that I can do that really help. Similarly with back pain, there are lying down and sitting options, and at the moment the sitting ones are better for me and do a lot to strengthen my back and reduce the pain. The selection of exercises for each part of the body are well thought out, allowing plenty of scope for which ones you feel most comfortable with depending on the extent of your injury. After two years of high dependence on very strong prescription painkillers and no end in sight, this book has made a huge difference in less than a fortnight. I do the exercises every day and am already feeling much less pain, I’ve even managed one full day without painkillers and a few more where I’ve needed very few. Being able to take control and do something positive has made so much difference to my outlook in general. The exercises are also good for general muscle tone and strength, and I find the shoulder/neck stretches are also amazing at shifting tension headaches within minutes. This book is wonderful, it empowers you to heal your own body which in turn makes you happier and more positive.
